For Women

  • Kurti: A shorter tunic that can be worn with leggings, palazzos, or jeans. Kurtis come in various styles and lengths, from casual to formal
  • Ghagra Choli: Similar to the Lehenga Choli but typically worn in regions like Rajasthan and Gujarat. Often more colourful and heavily embellished
  • Sharara: A variation of the salwar kameez with wide-legged pants (sharara) and a long or short tunic
  • Saree Gown: A modern fusion garment that combines elements of a saree and a gown, offering a contemporary twist on traditional wear


For Men

  • Kurta Pajama: A comfortable and versatile outfit consisting of a long tunic (kurta) and loose trousers (pajama). Often worn for casual and semi-formal occasions
  • Sherwani: A long coat-like garment worn over a kurta and churidar or pajama. Sherwanis are typically worn for weddings and formal events and are often richly embroidered
  • Dhoti: A traditional piece of cloth wrapped around the waist and legs, often paired with a kurta. Dhotis are commonly worn in southern and eastern India
  • Achkan: Similar to a sherwani but typically shorter in length. Often worn for formal occasions and ceremonies
  • Pathani Suit: A stylish outfit consisting of a long kurta with side slits and straight-cut trousers. Popular in northern India and often worn during festivals and special occasions
  • Jodhpuri Suit: A formal outfit that includes a tailored coat with trousers, often worn for weddings and formal gatherings
  • Angarkha: A traditional garment with a crossover front, often tied or buttoned on the side. It is usually worn in Rajasthan and Gujarat


For Both Men and Women

  • Dupatta: A long scarf or shawl worn with various outfits, such as salwar kameez and lehenga choli for women, and kurta pajama for men
  • Turban (Pagdi): A traditional headwear worn by men, especially in northern India. Turbans vary in style and significance across different regions and communities



Regional Variations

  • Pheran: A traditional Kashmiri garment worn by both men and women. It is a long, loose-fitting cloak often worn during the winter
  • Mekhela Chador: A traditional Assamese outfit for women, consisting of a skirt-like garment (mekhela) and a draped cloth (chador)
  • Pavadai Davani: A traditional South Indian outfit for young girls, consisting of a long skirt (pavadai) and a half-sari (davani)
  • Mundu: A traditional garment worn by men in Kerala, similar to a dhoti. It is a piece of cloth wrapped around the waist and legs
  • Lungi: A casual, often colourful garment worn by men in southern India. It is a piece of cloth wrapped around the waist, similar to a sarong
